The business park offers room for two main activities.

Seventeen hectares is reserved for the high-quality knowledge economy, providing opportunities for knowledge-intensive tech companies, including in the areas of biotech, cleantech and healthtech. This gives Ghent an even stronger position in these cutting-edge sectors. Part of the business park has entered into an alliance agreement with Ghent University to work together on this.

The Eiland Zwijnaarde is completely surrounded by greenery and water and has excellent access, right on the outskirts of the city and close to the UGent technology campus and is thus an inspiring working environment for start-ups and scale-ups. ” says Ivan Lokere, CEO of Alinso Group.

Eighteen hectares are being provided for logistics and distribution companies that will take maximum advantage of the inland waterway transport. The park is targeting international water-based companies who are focused on the logistics of the future. To facilitate the operations, on the western side of the business park an industrial waterfront is being developed with quays along the Upper Scheldt, providing the inland waterway transport with a major impetus. All freight that can be transported via the waterway can stay off the road.
